As I sit here on a plane on my way to Cheyenne, WY to speak at the March for Life…I am overwhelmed as I think of the 43 years since Roe v. Wade. Abortion was legalized 43 years ago today. Abortion…the very thing that I survived when my birth mother had an abortion while pregnant with me.
Over the past 43 years we have made progress is some ways and have had setbacks in others. Overall though, I believe we have made progress. We have seen laws passed to protect women and the unborn; we have seen many lives saved through prayer and reaching out; we have witnessed over 200 abortion clinic workers leave their jobs in the abortion industry with the help of faithful and care pro-lifers, we have seen many abortion facilities shut down because of our efforts….and so much more!
A few days ago, the news released a statement saying that Dr. Patel; the abortionist who performed my birth mother’s abortion that failed (but successfully took the life of my twin), had been arrested, put in prison and his medical license was taken away for good. I can’t begin to tell you what an answer to prayer this is…he can no longer hurt any women, families or children. What an incredible feeling of victory we should have…because through our efforts and through our prayers—God answered.
Let’s continue to pray for Dr. Patel and all who work inside of the abortion industry. I believe with my whole heart that they are not the enemy- they are victims of the abortion industry just like the women, men, families and babies that they call their patients. No one is “too far gone.” There is always room for change, redemption, forgiveness…and we, as pro-lifers, need to stand and speak up for ALL life- including the lives of the men and women who are the “face” of the abortion industry.
43 years too long. What will it take for us to NEVER see another 43 years after these? Continue to fight. Continue to pray. Continue to love and to forgive. Continue to talk about things that matter with your family and friends. I believe we will see the day that abortion is a part of HISTORY.
I am passionate about life & God in a down-to-earth & personal way.
