I often look around a room at all of the different people and I contemplate who could be missing…what could be different? Do you ever do that? I have heard it said that our next president lost his or her life to abortion and that the person who would have already cured many diseases lost his life to abortion, etc. Well, the other day I was at a Pregnancy Resource Center Banquet and I was talking about many of the wonderful pro life advocates and leaders that I know and that I even know of, I realized that there are many pro life leaders that have lost their lives to abortion.Could it be that there are many other Shawn Carneys and David Beriets (40 Days For Life) who would have had a vision that would greatly reduce the number of abortions across the world? Right now, the organization that they started, 40 Days For Life, is holding its 40 Days campaign and it is the largest, most successful grassroots pro life group today. The numbers of lives saved from abortion because of the organized prayer and side walk counseling provided by their volunteers is unbelievable! It’s so encouraging and it makes me wonder how much closer we could be to ending abortion had some of our brothers and sisters been given a chance at life.
I know that if the abortion my birth mother had had successfully taken my life that some lives would not have been touched the same way as when they met me and heard my story. I know there are people in my own family who would not be the same had I not survived the abortion, to one day meet my birth mother, find out about my birth and survival. It totally changed our lives, as you can imagine!
We ARE missing people, important people, who would have done big things in the pro life movement and beyond. However, God chose to do big things through us here on earth. We may never understand how such a horrific act such as abortion could be allowed and why so many are not here with us today because of it but God does. He knows and one day we will too. Until then it is our responsibility to fight this battle against evil… Because there is nothing more evil than a mother taking the life of her child.
Keep up the fight. There are encouraging things happening across the country. Clinics are shutting down, clinic workers are walking away into the loving arms of prolifers, prolife bills are being passed and lives are being saved on the sidewalk. Be encouraged but be reminded that those we are fighting for are worth the fight…who knows who they might grow up to be!
