I have recently accepted a position as an Executive Director at a Pregnancy Resource Center where we help women and families in need especially when in crisis or unplanned pregnancy situations. As we meet with these girls who are afraid and hurting, I can’t help but try to understand how they would come to a decision to abort their own child. Regardless of if I understand, I listen. The more I listen, the more I realize these are women and families just like ME…hurting, confused, scared but trying to be strong and be grounded in their beliefs. I also work with people who have worked in the abortion industry, even directed abortion facilities and assisted in abortion procedures. So often we look down on them and think they are so much different than us…but they’re not. They’re real people trying to find their place in this world. Most of them really think they are doing the right thing! It takes a lot of courage and boldness to look death and the abortion industry in the face and fight for life…life for both the mother and the baby. However, if you think about it, it doesn’t take a lot of courage or a lot of boldness to look these mothers and families in the eye and offer a smile or affirm to them that they CAN do it and they ARE valuable. Yes, it may be uncomfortable and yes, they may not care…But I have seen more people converted on the issue of life through prayer and loving open arms than by words of defense and boldness. I often tell people that I pray for and love people that work in the abortion industry. In fact, I have forgiven the abortionist that took the life of my twin. I believe wholeheartedly that when we begin to reach out to those in the abortion industry with love and with welcoming arms, that is when we will see even MORE centers close and more conversions on the issue of life.

Powered By CoScheduleEach of us can find time in a prayer life and in our hearts to love these clinic workers, whether it’s out on the front lines at the abortion clinic or in your quiet time at home. I encourage you to do so. I encourage you to pray for the mothers and families that are faced with unplanned or crisis pregnancies. Most importantly, I encourage you to pray for a heart for these people and that any bitterness, resentment, anger or misunderstanding that you have toward them would be replaced with a heart of love, prayer, understanding and forgiveness. When we really begin to treat people the way Christ would, we will win. Regardless, Jesus is coming back and we will see an end to abortion but how amazing would it be to see an end to abortion in our lifetime or in our Grandkids’ lifetimes? Everything is possible through Christ.
