While I was delivering my miracle baby in February, George Tiller’s well known late-term abortion facility announced that it would be reopening. I was giving life and they were making plans to take the lives of innocent lives just like my sweet daughter. When I got home and read the news, I was too tired and sleep deprived to even acknowledge what was happening. The best thing I could do was focus on the precious little life God has so graciously given me to love, protect and enjoy. Now that she’s 7 months old and I am traveling again, I have had time to think and do some research.
I was surprised as I did my research at what was said about Tiller’s clinic reopening. One of his former employees that worked with him before Tiller was murdered, Julie Burkhart, opened and is now running Tiller’s former clinic. A lot of things have changed since Tiller…the clinic will not be offering the broad range of services, especially late term abortions, that Tiller offered. However their mentality seems to still be the exact same…sickening.
“I think abortion is about motherhood,” said Burkhart. “Abortion is about motherhood because by and large women coming in to have abortions are concerned about the kind of life and the future for their children. Women are thinking in a very responsible manner when choosing that.”
How in the world is abortion about motherhood? It TAKES motherhood. It PREVENTS motherhood. That is the only way that abortion is about motherhood…its about stopping it!!
As I read these words, my heart sank and I couldn’t help but think about the poor woman who thinks she is doing the right thing for women, just like Tiller did. My hope and my dream is to one day go show my face in that abortion facility and shake their hands and tell them that I forgive them. Tell them THANK YOU for not giving my birth mother the second abortion after the first one failed to abort both twins. (This was the only late term abortion facility in Kansas at the time and my birth mother remembers going to Kansas for her second abortion.) I want them to see the face of a survivor…a survivor from their clinic!!
I often say this when I speak and I will say it to you again…Jesus did not call us to only love and get to know people that are just like us or picture perfect christians that have their lives together, in fact, HE set the example for us by loving and getting to know the outcasts and the sinners. Jesus has called us to love and get to know abortion facility workers…and for me that means the very abortion facility that almost took my life!
As uncomfortable as it is for me to think about loving and getting to know these men and women providing abortions, similar to the person that took the life of my twin, it’s not up to me. God gave me a heart for this ministry and I WILL NOT stop at just the mothers and babies.
Please join me today in prayer for abortion clinic workers, former and present, all over the country and for the closure of Dr George Tiller’s clinic in Kansas. May God bless them with a new job, a new heart and love for life and for God to completely heal and renew their souls.
This ones for YOU, Warren Dale Culwell 3, I cant wait to hug you in heaven!
