I have watched this so many times with David and so many others. Each time I have mixed emotions. I cry. I rejoice. I'm humbled. I'm proud. For my birth mother to be so brave and humble to share what it was like to have an abortion at 13 years old and then place her baby that survived for adoption. Hearing the story of my adoptive parents ( my mom and dad) and their openness to what God had planned for them in giving them children. Their unconditional love and support. Imagining so many other young girls and moms going through similar pregnancy situations where they feel trapped or like they don't have options. It brings me to my knees.
It reminds me that God has a story and a place for each of our lives and there are reasons behind that. In my case - God gave me more than I could have dreamed of, regardless of the abortion, in giving me my family - adoptive and biological . . . Above all else, giving me life so that I can help others going through hard times, different pregnant situations, the unknown, the "horribleness" as my birth mother spoke of being pregnant at 13 (or any age unexpectedly or unwanted).
That's why it takes a village. That's what we all should be fighting for each other, standing up for the dignity of each and every human being regardless of who they are or where they've come from...because, as you see through our story, God created beauty from our ashes and shortcomings. God loves and forgives regardless of what we've done. God has a perfect plan that we cannot even fathom.
As I continue to replay this video. I am reminded that there are women, men and families going through similar stuff that we have gone through, but feel like they are trapped, they have nowhere to go, no one to talk to, and no choice but abortion. My prayer for you is that you will see the effect that this entire, complicated, heart wrecking, impossible situation eventually turned into something that God made good. I want that for you, whoever you and whatever you are going through.

Tonight, I hope that this story of adoption, abortion, survival, reunion, love and forgiveness will touch someone to reach out and know that "you can do it", "you are stronger than you think" and "you have support waiting for you with just the click of a button." "You deserve to experience the joys (and hardships of motherhood- I promise it's the best mess you will ever be a part of) and you deserve so much better than abortion.
That's all folks.
I love you dearly.
